Hyperice Hypervolt Go 2 The new version of Hyperice's compact massage gun is lighter, sleeker, and more ergonomic.

There are plenty of options in percussive massagers, giving you a healthy amount of choices when it comes to your post-workout recovery tool. If you want something you can take when traveling, though, you narrow down your options a bit and Hyperice has long had one of the better offerings in their compact Hypervolt Go. This year, they’re making an improved version of that travel massage gun in the form of the Hyperice Hypervolt Go 2.

Billed as “the ultimate portable percussion massager,” the device retains the compact dimensions that made its predecessor so convenient to pack during travel, all while coming at an even more lightweight build, so it adds very little heft to your stash. Whether you’re packing it in a duffel for taking to the gym, your backpack during a hike, or your luggage for a trip, this thing puts a handy massage gun within easy reach in the most convenient way imaginable.

The Hyperice Hypervolt Go 2 sports a large power button in the back, which also allows you to switch between the three different speeds, making it easy to dial in the pressure you need even in the middle of a recovery session. It uses a 40W brushless motor to provide the percussive action, which employs the outfit’s QuietGlide technology to perform its job without making a lot of noise. Simply put, you won’t be drowning out the music playing over the speakers when you turn on this thing at the gym.

It comes with a rechargeable battery that holds enough juice to let it run for three hours between charges, allowing you to use it even for those extended treatment sessions when your muscles feel like they’ve been put through the grinder. A battery ring at the bottom of the grip allows you to see the charge levels at all times, too, so you know exactly when you will need to recharge.  The included charging cable, by the way, comes with multiple adapter tips, ensuring you will be able to charge it, regardless of what kind of electrical standards they use for power outlets in any place you go for travel.

The Hyperice Hypervolt Go 2 has a slightly angled grip that should make it easier to reach awkward areas of muscle, such as your back and hamstrings, while two head attachments allow you to find the ideal tip you want poking at your sore muscles. Yes, only two heads are included, so you don’t quite get the specialty heads that usually come with bigger massage gun models. The device is TSA-approved for carry on, by the way, so you shouldn’t have any problems taking this through the airport during your trips.

Unlike the outfit’s larger massage guns, there’s no Bluetooth onboard, so you won’t be able to use it with the Hyperice app. That means, you don’t get access to the pre-programmed speed controls, so you’re stuck doing everything manually. You also don’t get the pressure sensor that displays how much pressure is being applied, which, for the most part, is only useful when you’re not using the machine on yourself, so it’s not that big of a deal.

The Hyperice Hypervolt Go 2 is available now, priced at $199.
