Fenix EO3R V2 Keychain Flashlight Sized like a thumb drive, this keychain flashlight delivers big power, putting out a 500-lumen light with a 295-foot beam distance.

How many lumens can you fit in a keychain flashlight? A lot, apparently.  Take for example the Fenix EO3R V2 Keychain Flashlight, a thumb-sized lighting tool that puts out a whopping 500 lumens from its tiny enclosure.

That’s right, this diminutive flashlight can bust out a focused beam packing an impressive 500 lumens of brightness, making it extremely useful for those times you need a really strong light that can reach a decent distance. Granted, it won’t stay at that level of illumination for long because it’s running on a tiny battery module (not only will it drain, the darn thing could overheat), but we do appreciate the big burst of brightness, which can really come in handy at opportune moments.

The Fenix EO3R V2 Keychain Flashlight has a flat and compact profile that makes it very comfortable to keep in your pocket while it hangs on a fob with your keys. Truth be told, it looks like a thumb drive, so it takes up just a little space, allowing you to carry two or three of these without making your pockets feel that much heavier. Well… maybe a little heavy since the all-aluminum body leaves it weighing 30 grams (just over an ounce), so a few of these in the same pocket could add up.

When turned on to max power, it delivers the full 500 lumens over a beam distance of 295 feet. Do note, it won’t actually maintain the full 500 lumens the entire time it’s turned on – instead, it’s going to start tapering down the brightness as your eyes acclimate to the surroundings. We’re not sure how much lower it goes, but it can run at this setting for up to 80 minutes on the 400 mAh rechargeable battery. If you’re not quite up to using up that much power, you can opt for any of the lower settings, including 150 lumens (two hours), 30 lumens (6 hours, 35 minutes) and five lumens (30 hours). It also offers a red LED, a red flash, and a pulse light mode.

The Fenix EO3R V2 Keychain Flashlight is equipped with two white light LEDs and one red light LED, all with an estimated lifespan of 50,000 hours. It’s operated using a switch right on the body, which is recessed to avoid accidental presses while it sits in your pocket, with a memory circuit that remembers your last selected output before powering down, so it returns back to that one as soon as you switch it on.

Designed for outdoor use, that all-aluminum body has it rated impact resistant for drops up to three feet, all while being water-resistant to IP66 standards, so it can serve you both around the city and out in the backcountry. Features include a color temperature of 6500K, a battery level indicator, a lockout function, USB Type-C charging (two hours from drained to full), intelligent overheat protection, and a premium hard-anodized anti-abrasive finish. It measures 2.1 x 1 x 0.5 inches (length x width x thickness).

The Fenix EO3R V2 Keychain Flashlight is available now, priced at $29.95.
