Dometic TRT 140 Air Dometic's new inflatable rooftop tent is small enough to fit on compact cars while setting up in just two minutes for instant shelter.

Rooftop tents are great, allowing you to set up shelter at camp without having to deal with the cold, damp ground and all the crawling critters that come with it. Problem is, they’re still tents, so you’ll still need to set everything up before you can do anything else around the camp. Unless, of course, you’re camping with an inflatable tent like the Dometic TRT 140 Air.

An inflatable rooftop tent, it’s designed to sit flat on the roof during transport much like any rooftop tent, ready to deploy as soon as you find a proper place to set up your camp site. Unlike traditional rooftop tents, there’s no need to raise poles or secure frames when pitching the shelter, as you simply hook it up to the pump and let the air do the rest of the work.

The Dometic TRT 140 Air is a two-person rooftop tent that can sleep up to two adults comfortably. It comes with four large windows on each side to ensure you get a great view of the surroundings and proper ventilation, with mesh covers for those times you’re camping near water and need to keep the mosquitoes out. A telescopic aluminum ladder allows you to climb in and out of the tent with relative ease, while internal and external pockets give you handy pouches for stashing your gear.

It’s made from durable 300D ripstop polyester and a breathable polycotton material that, the outfit claims, can both reduce condensation and regular the internal temperature, ensuring it can keep the occupants warm and dry at all times. There’s also an integrated foam mattress, so you’ve got your sleeping arrangements covered without having to bring any extra gear (maybe bring a warm sleeping bag if it’s cold out).

The Dometic TRT 140 Air uses an air frame with a single point of inflation, so you only need to deal with one valve to get the whole thing blown up. This keeps things extremely simple, allowing you to inflate the whole thing to 9 PSI in around two minutes using the included 12V electric pump. You can use the same valve to deflate, too, which drains out all the air from the frame in as little as three seconds, so you’re ready to fold the whole thing into its bag in a jiffy. It comes with a tri-fold base design, by the way, which significantly reduces the tent’s overall footprint, allowing it to fit comfortably even on smaller cars.

Need an awning to extend your sheltered area at camp? The outfit is offering the tent with an optional awning that’s designed to mount right by the entrance and the ladder, allowing you to exit the tent and get down on the ground completely sheltered from the elements. The awning is actually covered on all but one side, so it’s quite private on its own, allowing you to use it as a spare room if you have extra people in your group.

The Dometic TRT 140 Air is available now, priced at $2,000.
