Chaco Ramble Puff Designed for the backcountry, these slippers combine a grippy outsole with a warm and comfy upper that looks like puffer jacket.

It looks like someone took a puffer jacket, cut it up, and used it as a shoe upper. And for some reason, that ended up being your most comfortable slip-on ever. That’s exactly how we feel about the Chaco Ramble Puff, a warm slipper that’s designed for wearing outdoors.

No, it’s not meant to replace your hiking boots when you’re going up a trail. Instead, this is footwear you can slip into during those downtimes at camp, when you need a shoe that can handle wet ground, rocks, and uneven surfaces, all while keeping your feet comfortable and relaxed.

The Chaco Rumble Puff is described as a “house slipper updated with outdoor capabilities.” Truthfully, we couldn’t have billed it any better. Like your favorite slippers, these things go on and off your feet without any effort, all while being able to handle the sometimes slippery, sometimes rocky, and oftentimes challenging conditions of your favorite backcountry haunts. It uses the same combined midsole and outsole of the outfit’s sandals, which sports a rubber sole with 3mm lugs to deliver that outdoor stability and their signature molded footbed for comfortable wear. Do note, the molded footbed is not entirely the same as the sandals, with a slightly less-pronounced design, which, we guess, was necessary, since it’s an entirely different footwear.

Designed as a warmer replacement for your camp sandals, the slipper uses a diamond-quilted upper that resembles the pattern found on many puffer jackets, which, we guess, is a simple way to let you know that this will keep your feet toasty. That upper, by the way, is cut in ripstop nylon for hardwearing performance in outdoor environments (it’s durable and water resistant), while soft fleece lining ensures it wraps your feet in a soft and comfortable material. We don’t know if they actually added any insulation for the puffy upper (nothing is listed on the product page), but it remains a really warm slipper all the same.

Apart from being extremely comfortable, the Chaco Rumble Puff is also one of the more unique-looking outdoor slipper options we’ve seen. As such, it’s very likely to get a lot of attention the next time you’re out in the backcountry, in case you enjoy having a piece of item that can spark instant conversations. This particular model, by the way, comes with a cinch strap (jacquard webbing with injection-molded buckle), so you can secure it just that much tighter, in case you need to hike up a short trail a bit and don’t quite want to change into your regular boots because your slip-ons are a little too comfy.

Whether you need comfy slippers for the basecamp, the backyard garden, or just mowing the lawn out front, these sound like the perfect footwear to get if you want warmth to go along with that casual slipper comfort. Plus, it can shrug off rain like nobody’s business, making it something you can wear for most days of the year.

The Chaco Rumble Puff comes in four colors. It’s available now.
