Seiko x Giugiaro Design Spirit Smart Watch This 2015 reissue of Ripley's watch from the original Aliens film still strikes the perfect balance between stylish and futuristic.

As far as watches from science fiction movies go, the Seiko timepiece that Siguorney Weaver wore in Aliens is among the few that really strike the perfect balance between futuristic and stylish. You know, it’s different enough to be legitimately odd, but still good-looking enough that it’s not that tough to wear it as an everyday piece. And while the Japanese watchmaker has long stopped making the original, you can get your hands on a reissue this year with the Seiko x Giugiaro Design Spirit Smart watches.

That’s right, you can wear a brand new version of the same watch that Ripley did throughout the entire Aliens movie, so you’ll be duly equipped to battle extraterrestrials when they do descend upon the planet at any point in your lifetime. Well… duly equipped to look like a badass, that is. You’ll have to make other arrangements if you want to handle the fighting part.

The Seiko x Giugiaro Design Spirit Smart features the near-exact same design as the Giorgetto Giugiaroto original, with the round dial that looks like a part of an instrument panel, the blocky panel on one side, and the two large chronograph buttons. We’re not sure about the size of the original, but the case for the reissue measures 41.8 x 42.2 x 10.8 m (h x w x d), with an accompanying bracelet that’s also similar to the one Ripley had around her wrist.

While the original watch isn’t that high-priced as a collectible (around a grand on eBay), it’s also impossible to find one that hasn’t been worn to death by previous owners (I mean, I’d wear this thing to death, too). That’s what makes this limited-edition release (6,000 total units only) pretty special. The Seiko x Giugiaro Design Spirit Smart is available in Japan, priced at around $260 for the gray model and around $295 for the black.
