Filzer Buckster Bow Saw Reinventing a classic, Filzer reinforces a now-defunct design with a lightweight frame, stiffer tensioning, and a grippy handle for all-day cutting comfort.

According to Filzer, their Buckster Bow Saw actually borrows its designs from an old fold down saw whose manufacturer has since shut down its doors, leaving old fans with no way to replace aging or broken tools. We don’t actually know which brand or model it is, but we do know we’re quite impressed with Filzer’s version of the old-time camping staple.

Designed for portability, the saw can collapse into a cylindrical tube measuring just 19 x 3.5 inches (length x diameter), making it easy to square away on a strap or mesh on your pack while heading to camp. Despite the portable nature, there’s nothing shabby about its function, as this thing is touted to cut through logs up to 13 inches thick, making it truly handy in the wild, whether you’re building a shelter, growing a campfire, or cobbling together a log-based stove.

When assembled, the Filzer Buckster Bow Saw takes on a sawing-friendly form factor, complete with a grippy rubber handle and a stainless steel tensioning system to help smoothly cut into logs. It pairs that with an all-aluminum frame for lightweight durability (just 1.4 pounds), as well as an 18-inch blade for a whole lot of cutting edge. And, yes, they sell replacement blades for switching to a new one when the hard toothed edge begins to dull.

Available now, the Filzer Buckster Bow Saw is priced at $39.99.
