All Birds Wool Runners We make everything in merino wool already, so why not a pair of trainers? These running sneakers do exactly that.

From base layers to outerwear to everything in between, we’ve seen merino wool lends its natural technical prowess to a whole load of clothing items. So why not wear it on your feet, too? And, no, we don’t mean just socks, because you can hit the trails in a pair of trainers made from the same material with the All Birds Wool Runners.

That’s right, it’s a pair of trainers with an upper that’s cut completely in merino wool, so it benefits from the popular fabric’s soft, lightweight, breathable, moisture-wicking, and odor-minimizing properties. Like all merino garments, it should be functional in both warm and cold weather, allowing feet to breathe during the former while keeping them toasty amid chillier climates.

The All Birds Wool Runners use a proprietary dual-faced textile (it looks the same both inside and outside), with a look and feel that’s similar to the current crop of sock-like shoe uppers used by various brands. While it’s not intended to compete with technical running shoes from big brands like Nike and Adidas (it’s aimed at the “athleisure” market), it’s designed to function competently, combining the merino upper with a good set of shoe elements. It comes, for instance, with a lightweight foam-and-rubber sole that delivers a balance of cushioning, weight handling, and friction control, along with a padded insole with merino wool lining for odor reduction.
