With a name like Adidas Matchcourt Mid, you won’t be too wrong to assume this latest silhouette is a pair of classic tennis sneakers. You’ll still be wrong, of course, but justifiably so, since the shoe, basically, recreates an old-school tennis design into performance skateboarding kicks.

Based on the Adidas Nizza, which was first introduced in 1975, the shoes take the same silhouette as the high-top original, but gets slightly lowered at the ankle for a fit that’s friendlier to doing ollies, kickturns, and grinds while still providing the necessary support. It also looks beefier, which should allow it to offer added armor for those times you don’t manage to bail correctly in the middle of a failed trick.

The Adidas Matchcourt Mid Shoes are a durable pair of sneakers, with a responsive construction that’s built to flex, ensuring it supports you in every turn. A double-wrapped vulcanized outsole promise serious grip and excellent board feel, all while providing the toughness necessary around the edges. It recreates the rubber shell toe bumper from the original for abrasion resistance and adds partial eyestay construction to help prevent excessive wear and tear on the top of the foot while providing the necessary protection. Construction is suede and textile for the upper, with a polyurethane sockliner for extra comfort.
