Tracksmith x Taylor Stitch Traverse Short This collaboration marries Tracksmith's technical chops with Taylor Stitch's classic aesthetics, turning out more refined running gear.

We’re big fans of Tracksmith’s running apparel. We’re also fond of Taylor Stitch’s classic pieces, which offer a great way to round out anyone’s closet. Well, the two outfits just decided to collaborate on a limited-collection of running gear that combines Tracksmith’s technical expertise with Taylor Stitch’s timeless aesthetic, giving erstwhile sportswear a more refined aesthetic. The Tracksmith x Taylor Stitch Traverse Short is easily our favorite of the lot.

A bit of a departure from your usual running shorts, this piece ditches the drawstring waist you’ll normally find in favor of a zippered fly and a button closure. Heck, they even threw in belt loops on the darn thing, making it look like the kind of shorts you wear for a casual day shopping at the flea market. Yes, just like the typical garment Taylor Stitch makes. Except… you know… it comes with all the technical elements you will need to support your runs, making it a nice change of pace if you’re looking to change up your running style.

The Tracksmith x Taylor Stitch Traverse Short is made from lightweight polyester that bears a comfortable four-way stretch, allowing you to move just as freely as with any running shorts. That means, you can take as long strides as you want, run up and down stairs, and even do other types of workout in these, as they’re as flexible as any proper athletic garment. While you can hold the pants up with a nice belt (yes, there are belt loops), you probably don’t want to wear one when you’re actually training (it’s not going to be comfortable), so it actually has an elastic waistband to give you a snug but forgiving fit.

Because it serves nicely as a pair of walking shorts, you should be able to wear it for all sorts of casual settings, whether you’re walking the dog at the park, grabbing a bite at a local truck, or meeting with friends over coffee. After that, you can hit the gym without having to change into more comfortable shorts, so you just lift weights, hop on the treadmill, or get on the spin bike in the same garment.

The Tracksmith x Taylor Stitch Traverse Short, of course, won’t work as a casual streetwear piece without pockets. As such, they threw in two slash pockets out front for stashing gear easily, a patch pocket on the back with a button closure, and a discreet zippered security pocket on the left side seam for any valuables you want to protect. Other garment features include a YKK zipper fly, dark horn buttons, vents on the side seam hem, and a 7-inch inseam.

Aside from the shorts, the collection also includes a tee, a long sleeved tee, a Henley shirt, a bomber jacket, and even a button-down overshirt. That’s right, it’s a button-down overshirt for running, so this is quite the unique collection.

The Tracksmith x Taylor Stitch Traverse Short is available to order now, priced at $78, with pieces shipping in May.
