Some backpacks have a nice silhouette and good utility, but they don’t quite pop out in a way makes you really want to get one. Topo Design’s classic Rover Pack kind of fits in that role. As in, you’ll probably consider one if you’re looking for a durable, good-looking day pack, but not in a way that you won’t bother to look at possible alternatives. The new Alaskan Twill & Navy Rover Pack, though, is the kind you impulse-buy on sight while passing by a store, even when you didn’t really need another backpack to add to your innumerable ones at home.
A collaboration between Topo Design and outdoor clothing brand, Woolrich, the bag combines the original Rover Pack’s classic silhouette with the latter company’s high-quality woolen fabrics. With the injection of color and extra texture, it gives the erstwhile classic design a fresh-looking character, making for a simple but stylish bag that should serve you well, whether in school, at work, or on the trail.
The Topo Designs x Woolrich Rover Pack measures 18 x 11 x 5 inches (h x w x d), with 990 cubic inches of volume in the main compartment – just enough size to pack in a day’s supply of gear. It uses Alaskan Twill wool for the upper half of the bag and navy 1000D Corduira for the lower section to give it rugged functionality, with a coated cloth liner. Features include an inner laptop sleeve, a cinch closure for the main compartment, two zippered exterior pockets, side pockets with compression straps, and lightweight straps with mesh backing.
Available now, the Topo Designs x Woolrich Rover Pack is priced at $198.
