We’re big fans of Stasher’s silicone bags, a reusable and microwavable alternative to zippered disposable plastic bags. It’s a great way to reduce the amount of plastic waste you produce at home, especially if you refrigerate and store a good amount of food. The Stasher Go takes those food storage bags and repurposes them for general EDC storage.
We know, you can take any reusable silicone bag and use it as an EDC pouch – just throw your pocket knife, breath mints, and whatever else you want in there, then stash it in a corner of your pack. This bag, though, is designed for taking around on the go, so it comes with facilities for mounting onto other stuff and carrying on its own.
The Stasher Go is a reusable silicone bag with a locking seal that you can close by pinching the opening shut, similar to those disposable sandwich bags that you pack your lunch in every morning. Except, you know, it’s made from silicone, so it holds its form permanently, all while being a lot more durable, ensuring it won’t easily puncture or tear even when you carry sharp or heavy items. Similar to their reusable food bags, it’s also dishwasher-safe, so you can easily throw this in with the dirty dishes in case it needs some proper cleaning.
Unlike their reusable bags, only one side of the bag is transparent, with the back completely opaque, so you can flip this upside down if you don’t want anyone seeing what’s inside. Because… you know… you carry embarrassing stuff sometimes. It has a hole on one corner with a carabiner installed on it, allowing you to hang it on a hook at home, the strap of your bag during commute, or your belt loop if you’re traveling light. Do make sure you remove the carabiner when you’re cleaning it in the dishwasher, since you don’t need it there for the cleanup.
The Stasher Go measures 5 x 8.5 x 1.5 inches (height x width x thickness), so this is strictly for carrying smaller items that will otherwise end up in your pant pockets. For a day at school or work, for instance, you can use it to carry sunglasses, writing instruments, and your favorite wireless earbuds, while using it to carry your passport and other travel documents during trips. We guess it will also make for a functional dopp kit, in case you need something to hold your basic toiletries, or a first aid kit when you’re spending the weekend going on an outdoor adventure.
Because it’s made from the same food-grade silicone used in Stasher’s food bags, it’s non-toxic, so you can also use it to hold food in a pinch. Of course, it’s too small to actually hold anything substantial (it’s smaller than their sandwich bag), but if you need a place to stash that half-eaten energy bar you were snacking on while walking to the gym, it can definitely do the trick.
Available in four colors, the Stasher Go is priced at $19.99.
