Snowmen Speaker Set Feel like it's an apocalyptic winter every day of the year with these 143-pound loudspeakers that look like robotic snowmen.

Ever looked at a snowman and thought it would make the perfect form factor for a loudspeaker cabinet? Yeah, probably not. Somehow, we feel Studio Dirk Vander Kooij did and they came up with the Snowmen Speaker Set as a result. Hey, at least, it doesn’t look like a geometric robot.

Developed with audio engineer Henkjan Netjes, the speaker embraces an aesthetic that’s reminiscent of the big, chubby snowmen people like to build during snow season. Granted, no one’s going to mistake it for an actual snowman anytime soon, although the multiple layers of ball-shaped white cabinet housing definitely brings the classic winter figure to mind.

Each unit in the Snowmen Speaker Set houses a 12-inch bass woofer, a 6-inch mid-woofer, a 26mm soft dome tweeter, oversized copper coils, and a Mundorf capacitor for the high frequencies. It doesn’t come with an amplifier built in, so you’ll have to hook it up to your own setup (they recommend 20W or more per channel). For the cabinet, it combines a steel frame with rock-solid plastic walls that measure 40mm thick, ensuring it can handle all the resonating energy the massive bass woofer produces.

The outfit claims, in fact, that the whole thing will deliver crisp and clear sound, no matter how high you turn up the volume, with the shape allowing the sound waves to radiate in optimal ways. Oh yeah, each speaker weighs 143 pounds, so this will require some special handling to move around.

Available now, the Snowmen Speaker Set is priced at €6,430.
