As far as lifestyle outfits go, Shinola earns a lot of respect for their compelling story. At the end of the day, though, brands gain and keep fans by producing compelling products. That definitely applies with the Shinola Canfield Chrono 43mm, the Detroit outfit’s newest timepiece.

Sporting a slimmer silhouette than their previous watches, the timepiece signals an update in the brand’s overall design language – one that folks who may have found their previous releases a bit too bulky can definitely appreciate.  It’s also built differently than any of their previous watches, having been assembled using a top-loading process that puts together every component through the front of the watch with the bezel closing last.

According to Shinola, this new process is responsible for the Canfield Chrono 43mm’s enhanced viewing area for the dial, showcasing its refined minute tracks, slimmer hands, and dual chronograph dials at the 3 and 9 o’clock marks. It houses that dial in a stainless steel case topped by a double-curve sapphire crystal out front and the outfit’s signature laser-etched plate in the back, along with a hand-assembled Argonite 5021 quartz movement performing the actual time-telling duties.

Features include 5ATM of water resistance, vertical-brushed finish for the stainless steel parts, Super-Luminova for low-light visibility (hands, numbers, and indexes), signature coin edge detail on the case, stopwatch function, and wire lugs.  It comes in a variety of dial colors paired with genuine alligator leather straps.

Slated for availability in May, the Shinola Canfield Chrono 43mm is priced at $1,050.
