Sennheiser HD 599 Designed for folks with less-than-audiophile needs, these Seinnheisers strike the right balance of sound quality and affordable price.

Audiophile headphones are nice and all, but unless you’re a serious audio buff, you’re not likely to appreciate the gap that exists between a good pair of headphones and badass audiophile-grade gear. If you just want a great experience listening to Kanye on your phone, there’s a good chance you’ll find a pair like the Sennheiser HD 599 a more suitable purchase.

Sennheiser calls it “near-audiophile” headphones, which is to say, it sounds darn good, but probably won’t satisfy the folks who spend hours typing long replies on hi-fi forums around the internet. If you’re not one of those guys, it just might be your perfect pair of ear cans, with its excellent sound quality and exceptional wearing comfort.

The Sennheiser HD 599 uses the outfit’s proprietary transducer technology, ensuring you get the same outstanding natural spatial performance from the outfit’s higher-end offerings. It comes with an open-back, over-ear design, complete with large ear cups to ensure utmost comfort while enjoying your favorite music. While it’s not quite as compact as travel headphones (it’s full-sized and doesn’t fold), it does bear premium looks, complete with an ivory color scheme, that you won’t mind wearing around your head while making your way around the airport. Features include replaceable ear pads, matte metallic detailing, and leather headband with detailed stitching.

Slated to come out later in the year, the Sennheiser HD 599 is priced at $249.95.
