Rugged Robe Leisure wear takes to the outdoors with this outerwear version of your classic bathrobe.

Do you ever lounge around the house on a Sunday morning in your favorite bathrobe and wonder why you don’t get to wear a robe all the time when it’s so comfy? Apparently, someone understands your pain. In fact, they did something about it and created the Rugged Robe.

A literal robe designed for wearing outdoors, it takes the leisurewear staple and turns it into functional outerwear, allowing you to ditch your jackets and blazers in favor of a comfy robe. No, it’s not just a trench coat masquerading as a robe, but an actual warm and relaxing all-fleece robe that’s been rigged to play nicely with the elements.

The Rugged Robe is made with double-sided velour Polartec fleece, which boasts premium water repellence while using lofted structures to retain warmth and allow optimal breathability. It’s soft, too, with a plush touch that should make it feel as soothing and carefree as your favorite bathrobe at home. Granted, it’s never going to feel as comforting as that Turkish cotton bathrobe you use to lounge around the house every morning, but for something made from post-recycled plastic, Polartec is impressively relaxing.

The back gets a waterproof soft shell mountain panel for extra protection during rainy days, while the elbows get a similar patch, so you can lean in on damp surfaces without getting water on all over your sleeves. They also threw in articulated waterproof cuffs that can be cinched with Velcro ensure those same sleeves stay in place the whole time. Since robes have those belts that dangle around and catch onto stuff, they made the tops waterproof, too, so there’s no danger of the whole thing soaking when you take a leak and it accidentally… uhm… dangles in the way. The belt is secured by three stitched hoops, by the way, so there’s no chance it falls off accidentally.

The Rugged Robe doesn’t just close with a belt. Instead, they also threw in snaps at the bottom and the shawl collar, so it gets extra reinforcements to stay in place. It’s longer than your typical robe, too, so it can help keep your legs and backside warm, in case you decided not to go out with long pants, as well as eight inches of waterproof material from the hem, in case you need to wade through a river while wearing a robe. Hey… they thought of everything. If it ever gets too hot under the garment, it’s also got four armpit vents on each side to let in a little cold breeze when you need to cool down.

Do you like pockets? Good, because it’s got pockets, too. Specifically, you get two oversized pockets at the hip that are lined with microfleece, so they can keep your hands warm, in case you forgot to wear gloves on a cold day out. Other features include two large interior pockets, a snap pocket on the upper left side, and even a hatchet loop on the left side, in case you need a place to secure your mini-axe.

The Rugged Robe is available now, priced at $475.
