Ravean Electric-Heated Outerwear Ravean's garments feature electric-heating technology that's comfortable, indiscernible, and machine-washable, making them as convenient as any outerwear.

Electrically-heated jackets are not a new idea. Many companies, both big and small, have tried them in the past, with none finding the kind of success that makes them a staple in people’s cold weather wardrobes. Ravean is hoping their stylish garments, convenient operation, and patented heating elements will help them lay claim to that ever-elusive niche.

Ravean’s current line consists of four garments: two jackets (one with hood, one without), one vest, and one hoodie, all of them featuring the outfit’s proprietary electrical heating design.   Under the system, you keep a battery on a designated slot in the left hand warmer pocket, which you attach to a 12-volt plug in the same pocket. Wires run the length of the heated sections of the jacket, but they’re completely indiscernible, so you can neither see nor feel them during wear.

Heating elements are installed on the upper back and chest areas, along with the hand warmer pockets, on each of the garments, providing heating as long as the battery stays plugged in. A button on the inside of the garment (just right below the collar) allows you to switch the heating elements on and off, as well as adjust the level of heating to either low, medium, or high. Even more impressively, all of the garments are machine washable (just remove the battery and leave everything else), making them as convenient to clean up as any outerwear.

The jackets actually come with their own heated gloves, so you can use the hand warmer pockets to carry extra gear instead.   Unlike traditional heated gloves that pack their own batteries, these ones simply connect to the jacket’s power source via a plug on the sleeve, so they should be as lightweight and comfortable as any gloves in your winter wardrobe. Heck, this will even let you charge your phone on the battery, so you can leave the power bank at home.

A Kickstarter campaign is currently running for Ravean. Pledges to reserve a unit starts at $95.
