It might seem like a daunting activity, but figuring out how to properly ride a bicycle in winter can be rewarding, especially if you regularly use your bike the rest of the year. To do that, you’ll need to get your bicycle ready to handle the trickier paths of the season, as well as dress appropriately for the prevailing conditions. That means, warm enough to get you to the destination comfortably while light enough that you won’t end up sweating once your body starts heating up from all that pedaling.  The Rapha Team Thermal Aerosuit should offer a good starting point.

While it may look like a flimsy, long-sleeved cycling suit, it isn’t. Instead, this “innovative one-piece suit” is a highly-thermal technical outer garment that’s been designed to keep the rider warm while maximizing aerodynamic performance. That way, you can keep riding in winter without having to suffer through the unwieldy bulk of vests and jackets.

The top half of the Rapha Pro Team Thermal Aerosuit uses a windproof and weather-resistant shell to cover the front and the arms, with a breathable jersey fabric in the back to help regulate your body temperature. Joining it is a lower half based on Rapha’s Winter Tights, which use a combination of fabrics to protect the legs while providing plenty of breathability. A waffle print fabric lines the legs, trapping heat to keep the lower body warm and wicking sweat away, while the included chamois features Lycra construction with insulating Thermoroubaix fleece fabric as the lining. Features include three pockets for holding your riding essentials, low-friction zipper with a thick tab, and a tailored fit.

Available now, the Rapha Pro Team Thermal Aerosuit is priced at $440.
