Best known for making EDC gear that sell out within the span of a day, Prometheus Design Werx has been slowly branching into apparel. Their latest is the Odyssey Cargo Short 100RS, a pair of short trousers that’s, of course, aimed at the EDC crowd.
Billed as a “utility field short,” it’s a pair of cargo shorts with a design based on the combat utility pants British and American paratroopers wore during WWII. Don’t worry, it doesn’t look like the baggy cargo shorts that ruined guys’ outfits for decades, but a tighter-looking, more streamlined version to dress you up in a more contemporary style.
Since it’s meant for EDC use, the Odyssey Cargo Short 100RS comes with storage galore. For starters, the darn thing has 11 pockets, including two low-profile (as in, they don’t balloon up) gusseted cargo pockets with three-point flap closures, two horizontal hand pockets with a coin pocket each, dedicated EDC tool pockets (sized for folding knives, multi-tools, and flashlights), and a hide-away pocket by the rear waistband. It also comes with loop swatches on each cargo pocket and some of the belt loops for clipping even more gear to the shorts.
Built for durability, it boasts double- and triple-needle stitching throughout, as well as bar tacks at stress points and double seat reinforcement. Features include no-twist delta-ring hardware, slotted buttons, a nylon tooth zipper, and a diamond-shaped gusset for better mobility. It’s made from 100 percent ripstop cotton.
