Prometheus Design Werx Defiant Hoodie Billed as a “purpose-driven hoodie,” this garment vows to keep you dry and comfortable no matter the weather.

Prometheus Design Werx knows technical outerwear. They’ve made some of the best garments we’ve seen in the category. With the PDW Defiant Hoodie, the outfit built a piece that will keep your moving forward in the most inclement weather.

Billed as a “purpose-driven hoodie,” the garment boasts an uncompromising design that vows to keep you warm and dry no matter where you find yourself in any weather. Even better, it’s meant to keep you active, giving you full range of motion, so you can haul all your gear while hiking, chop down logs into firewood, or fight off a bear if the need for some wildlife wrestling ever comes up. Yeah, we don’t like your chances at that, either, but you should be able to move your upper body freely while you’re getting torn to shreds.

The PDW Defiant Hoodie is a soft-shell hooded jacket cut in a streamlined and uncluttered design that’s clean enough to layer with everything from your hiking outfits and travel garments to your everyday office wear. It’s cut in a Swiss-made Scholler textile that’s a blend of nylon, polyurethane, and elastane, which, the outfit claims, is equal parts waterproof and breathable, while delivering four-way stretch to keep you on the move. They claim, it’s technical enough for use across all four seasons, ensuring you’ll be comfortable wearing it through rain, snow, and even the hotter days of the year.

Aside from using a 3L waterproof material, they also coated it with a DWR layer, fully-taped all the seams, and threw in a two-way YKK waterproof zipper to keep any sort of water out. Similarly, they reinforced the four-way stretch with engineered patterning, so the stretch don’t even have to kick in with many of the movements you’re going to make.

The PDW Defiant Hoodie comes with a three-panel billed hood with two-axis cinch adjustments and a welded hood brim to keep your head dry in rainy weather, along with full-length flaps with a brushed chin guard behind the zipper to keep the strong winds at bay. It comes with a generous selection of pockets, including two on the lower chest and two on the sleeves, complete with dummy cord anchors and waterproof zippers to keep any gear you’re stashing inside safe and dry. Other features include pit zips, bias cut cuffs, laser-cut cuff tabs, and a fit that’s designed to wear over mid-layers.

The PDW Defiant Hoodie is available in three colors, priced at $395.
