Sized to fit snugly into a car’s DIN-1 slot, the modern nav system can be plugged in in place of a traditional car radio or a CD player. It’s designed to blend in seamlessly, too, with a surface finish, aesthetic styling, and control array reminiscent of elements found on the dashboard of classic Porsche sports cars.
Because of the size limitations of the slot, the Porsche Classic Navigation Radio only comes with a small 3.5-inch display, so you’ll probably spend most of your time listening to the turn-by-turn instructions instead of checking out the screen. Fine enough. The screen supports touch controls, although it also comes with a pair of knobs and six discreetly-integrated buttons, so you can keep your eyes on the road while fiddling with the system.
As with any modern nav radio, it boasts precise navigation, low-interference radio reception, Bluetooth for streaming music from your phone, and dual mics for hands-free calls. It even has four integrated 45-watt amplifiers for giving your music tracks a boost, apart from easily connecting to both external loudspeakers and the car’s original sound system.
