Based on one of the most innovative pilot watches in history, the Big Crown ProPilot Altimeter, the timepiece sports an excessively busy dial, making it look like a proper tool watch compared to the dressier original. Simply put, the watch brings a rugged aesthetic that should complement your less-formal attires.
The Oris Altimeter Rega Limited Edition Watch puts that dial in a 47mm case that’s cut in gray-plated stainless steel. Like the original, it uses a self-winding mechanical movement, with a waterproof that ensures it will keep on ticking whether you’re up in the air or submerged underwater. A sensitive alloy capsule inside the watch provides the altitude readings by reacting to minute changes in air pressure, with the ability to take measurements up to 15,000 feet.
The back plate comes with an elaborate engraving that pays tribute to the Rega mountain rescue team, along with a waterproof metal presentation box. Only 1,414 examples of the timepiece will be made.
