For several decades now, North Sails has outfitted a large fleet of boats with the most cutting-edge sail fabrics. So it’s no surprise that when they transitioned to clothing, the garments put to use the same advanced technologies found in those sails. And that’s what makes the North Sails Typhoon Jacket such a badass shell.
Described as one of the toughest waterproof shells in the outfit’s line, the jacket will shed water like the nastiest sailing jackets while staying intact through the roughest activities. Whether you’re actually enjoying the sea on a boat, hiking through the local backcountry, or just braving torrential spring downpour, this thing will see you through from start to end.
The North Sails Typhoon Jacket is cut in a 100 percent polyester fabric that’s equally waterproof, breathable, and hardwearing, with a three-layer construction ensuring it will perform reliably season after season. An oversized fit allows you to layer it over a good load of garments during colder days, while a waist-length cut should have it looking stylish enough for everyday wear.
Features include fully-taped seams to keep out every drop of rain, an adjustable hood, cuffs with Velcro straps for adjustments, waterproof zippers, a zippered front pocket, and another one with magnetic snaps for ease of access. It comes in two colors: marine blue and off-white.
Available now, the North Sails Typhoon Jacket is priced at $275.
