By now, you’re probably familiar with Matador’s line of outdoor gear, which combine technical function with materials that can fold into a very compact bundle. Their original product, though, was an awesome little picnic blanket that you can pack down to fit comfortably in your pocket. That was a few years ago. This time around, they’re recreating that very impressive gear with the Matador Pocket Blanket 2.0.

Billed as an upgraded version of their original blanket, it’s a large piece of mat cover you can lay down on the ground, giving you a dry, clean place to sit in parks, beaches, and camp grounds. Whether you’re having a family picnic at the local park, hanging out with friends at an outdoor festival, or getting some sun at the local beach, this thing lets you set up a resting spot anywhere you can find the open space.

The Matador Pocket Blanket 2.0 unfolds to an impressive 63 x 44 inches, giving you plenty of room to plop down and stretch your legs along with a companion, complete with a little extra room for food, snacks and some gear you want to keep within easy reach. More impressively, though, it packs down to fit inside a pouch that squeezes comfortably in your pocket, allowing you to take it anywhere without having to carry any bags. While it’s called a blanket, by the way, the darn thing isn’t something you’ll want to use to cover your body on a cold day, so this is strictly for covering the ground when you want to rest your legs without dirtying up your pants.

Rust-proof metal ground stakes are built into the corners of the blanket, which you can use to deploy and stick in the ground to keep it in its spot during windy days. If the stakes are not enough, the corners are also equipped with pockets that you can fill up with sand or stones to further keep the whole thing in place.

The Matador Pocket Blanket 2.0 is made from a very thin material that enables the ultra-compact pack down size, with a built-in embroidered pattern to guide you in the most efficient way to fold it down when putting the blanket away (if you don’t follow the pattern, it might not fit in the pouch). Not only is it thin, it’s water-resistant, so you can lay it down on damp ground and keep yourself dry the entire time, all while being very durable, allowing it to resist tearing and puncturing, no matter what kind of debris it encounters in your adventures. Do note, the ultra-thin build makes it a bit difficult to fold during windy days, so you may want to find a covered space first before packing the darn thing down.

According to the outfit, the blanket can fit two people comfortably with their legs stretched out, although four people can also share it if they simply want a dry, clean place to plop down their rears. It comes in three colors: alpine green, black, and red.
