You want a fancy, luxury smartwatch. With your digital life currently invested in the Android ecosystem, though, that good-looking Apple Watch Edition just isn’t in the cards, no matter how much you fancy one. Maybe you can satiate the yearning with the LG Watch Urbane Luxe instead.
A limited-edition, luxury version of the Urbane Luxe, LG is billing it “more jewelry than wearable.” We can see the point. With a case adorned in shiny gold and a strap cut from splendid alligator leather, it definitely outdoes the aesthetics of most every other offering you can find in the Android Wear space.
Created in partnership with Reeds Jewelers, the LG Watch Urbane Luxe is covered in 23-karat gold, which the company claims is harder than the 24-karat gold used in jewelry and heavier than the 18-karat gold used in conventional luxury watches. Yes, heavier is supposed to be a good thing… I think. That alligator leather strap is also supposedly so well-crafted, it takes 30 experienced leather workers to carry out 50 separate steps to make each band. To top things off, it ditches ordinary buckles in favor of a deployment clasp (also covered in gold) to enable a fitted, more elegant look.
Everything else about the watch is the same as the original Urbane Luxe. That includes the 1.3-inch OLED screen with 320 x 320 resolution, Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 SOC, 512MB of RAM, 4GB of storage, and a 410mAh battery. It also retains the IP67 water resistance, along with all the features available from Android Wear.
Only 500 LG Watch Urbane Luxe will be made. Price is $1,200.
