While it’s been four years since Fujifilm’s flagship mirrorless camera was released, it remains one of the most highly-rated shooters in the category. Despite that, four years is a long time to stay relevant, making it high time to introduce a new successor to the throne. That will be the Fujifilm X-Pro2.

Like the X-Pro1, it’s huge for the category, going against the compact design companies like Sony have embraced with their recent releases. That extra size, though, rewards you with a whole load of features and the same uncompromising quality of its predecessor.

The Fujifilm X-Pro2 houses a newly-developed 24.3 megapixel X-Trans CMOS III sensor that delivers images with a perceived resolution far greater than the actual number of pixels, along with an image processor that runs four times faster than conventional engines, allowing it to post better response times despite the high pixel count. It also boasts the latest iteration of the company’s hybrid viewfinder, which allows users to switch between optical and electronic displays at the push of a button, complete with the option to display both at the same time (it superimposes the electronic viewfinder on top of the optical one).

Features include up to 8 fps continuous shooting, an extended ISO of 51,200, 1080p video recording up to 60fps, a faster mechanical shutter (1/8000th of a second), a 3-inch LCD display, and dual SD slots. Construction is rigid magnesium alloy for the body, with seals in over 60 places to ensure capable weather-resistance.

Slated for availability in February, the Fujifilm X-Pro2 is priced at $1,700.
