We don’t know if the military actually issues board shorts to servicemen during summer time. Nah, they probably don’t. If they did, though, we’re hoping it ends up looking like the Freenote Cloth Standard Issue Board Short.

A rugged pair of board shorts, it’s designed to perform through active days on the beach, whether you’re spending the time catching waves on a board, racing on jet skis, or just flashing your show-off muscles while walking along the shore. Yes, it does bear some military-like aesthetics, albeit with a styling that makes them perfectly suited for wearing to the water.

The Freenote Cloth Standard Issue Board Short is made from dead stock nylon, the same material the US Air Force employs in constructing their flight jackets, so you can bet this performs well through rough wearing. A reinforced back panel ensures it won’t rip or tear while engaging in shenanigans with your friends in the water, with reinforced stitching allowing the rest of the shorts to hold up just as solidly. Since it’s military themed, the shorts come in an olive color.

There are no side pockets, unlike most board short designs, although they do throw in a pair of secure snap button pockets around the back for your essential gear. Features include Japanese nylon interior finishing details, custom Corozo belt buttons, stainless steel snaps, and a graded inseam.

Available now, the Freenote Cloth Standard Issue Board Short is priced at $160.
