Bruder XP-8 Expedition Trailer Bruder's biggest trailer yet brings all the creature comforts in a self-sufficient mobile home rigged for all four seasons.

Back in 2016, Bruder released the XP-6, a trailer that looked like an apocalyptic safehouse on wheels (especially, if it was towed by this beast of a truck). It was awesome, with that intimidating exterior creating a stark contrast to the elegant interior space. This time around, they’re taking the same thing and making it bigger in the form of the Bruder XP-8.

Billed as the outfit’s “largest and most spectacular” one yet, the trailer combines a vast interior living space with four-season self-sufficiency and those beastly aesthetics that make it look like suitable mobile lodging for a ragtag army of post-apocalypse bandits. Suffice to say, this is not a mobile home for those merely dipping their toes in on-the-road living, but the kind seasoned enthusiasts will get once they’re ready for the ultimate camper upgrade.

The Bruder XP-8 has an air-tight and sealed chassis that’s covered in a closed-cell composite construction with thick walls that, the outfit claims, has been rigged for maximum strength and durability. Visually, it has all the signature elements of the smaller XP-6, from the sharp angles and the gray-and-black color scheme to the four 37-inch tires and the outfit’s proprietary air suspension system. Designed for four-season use, the walls are fitted with closed-cell foam for insulation and the roof has been engineered with pile-ups of heavy snow in mind.

Instead of the rear entry hatch found on the XP-6, the new trailer is equipped with a side door, so getting in and out of the living space feels more like a standard mobile home. Inside, it gets a generous layout that really maximizes the space, giving you a whole lot of creature comfort you can take on the road.

Upon entry into the Bruder XP-8, you will immediately encounter the bathroom door straight ahead and the fridge to your left, so you can take a leak or grab a drink without having to dirty up the rest of the living space with your muddy shoes. Turn right, though, to get access to a lounge area that has an L-shaped sofa with a slide-out table on the left and a fully-equipped kitchen on the right. Walk further ahead to reach the bedroom, which houses a full queen-sized bed. Storage is scattered all throughout the space, by the way, so there is plenty of room to stash clothes, gear, and any appliances you want to keep on hand.

It has an onboard heat and hot water system (diesel-powered) for the colder days of the year, as well as ducted air conditioning to keep the heat away during the humid summer months. There’s also a pressurized air filtration system, so you can keep dust and allergens out of the trailer space for a truly restful time. Power comes courtesy of a 12.5kWh battery pack that’s hooked up to an integrated 1,600W solar array. Equipped with a 5,000W inverter, it can supply power to a series of AC, 12V, and USB outlets for hooking up TVs, microwaves, and whatever other devices you have onboard. Heck, they’re even touting a reverse-osmosis water system that will allow the trailer to purify its own water for really self-sufficient living.

The Bruder XP-8 is scheduled for official rollout on October, priced starting at around $177,000.
