It’s been a busy year for Bowers & Wilkins, as they’ve introduced plenty of new products for their 50th year in business. Crowning things off, however, is the Bower & Wilkins P9 Signature, a pair of over-ear headphones that, the outfit claims, is their most luxurious one to date.
No, they didn’t tack on tiny gems and gold accents for luxury. Thank god. Instead, they focused their efforts on quality and build, using no off-the-shelf parts and relying instead on bespoke items for every aspect of the cans, making for quite the special pair of headphones.
The Bowers & Wilkins P9 Signature has large earcups (their largest to date) that house optimized acoustic cabinets that enable the drive unit to render your music with total precision, while a de-coupled headband design ensures there’s no vibration transmitting from the cups to the headband for a clear and more open sound. It uses two 40mm full-range drivers that use a clever suspension system to provide precise reproduction at high frequencies while delivering enough compliance for a big bass sound, with angled positioning that makes it sound like the music is coming from the front.
Features include Italian Saffiano leather on both the headband and ear cups, memory foam ear cushions for added comfort, and a folding hinged design that makes it suitable for travel. It even comes with a carry case covered in Alcantara to ensure you can travel with your headphones in style.
Available now, the Bowers & Wilkins P9 Signature is priced at $899.99.
