Boundary Supply Rennen Recycled Daypack Billed as a combo of classic style, sustainable materials, and technical elements, this pack is one of the best eco-friendly bags around.

No, it’s not the most stylish backpack in the world. In fact, it looks very conventional – the kind of design you’ve probably seen iterated on thousands of times already. If you want to support sustainable products, though, the Boundary Supply Rennen Recycled Daypack definitely has the recycling credentials.

Billed as a combination of classic styling, sustainable materials, and technical elements, the backpack claims to “rethink what is possible with recycled materials.” The result is a nice everyday bag that will fit right in with your school and casual work outfits, all while coming with technical elements that let you tailor its function based on your specific needs for the day.

The Boundary Supply Rennen Recycled Daypack is made with 100 percent Bluesign-certified materials, hardware, and manufacturing processes, so this is as sustainable as a backpack can get in this day and age. Not only does it use recycled materials, at least 60 percent of the fabrics, felts, and mesh it’s made with have been recycled multiple times (re-recycled, basically), so this is quite a deep dive into eco-friendly production. Basically, if you want a backpack with as much sustainability credentials as possible, it’s going to be hard to find anything better.

It comes with 22 liters of storage in the main compartment, which comes with a large zippered pocket and a padded sleeve sized to fit laptops and tablets up to 15 inches. The laptop sleeve comes with two magnet docks in the front that allows you to add a second sleeve in front of it, in case you want to carry two laptops or a tablet along with your laptop, as well as an accessory bag designed to hold cables, port hubs, and other small tech accessories you might want to bring on the road. The large zipper pocket, on the hand, comes with a carabiner-style clip inside that you can use to hang keys, a dopp kit, and other small items with integrated attachment loops.

The Boundary Supply Rennen Recycled Daypack comes with integrated cable pathways, so you can charge your phone from a power bank inside without having it go through the openings, along with a zipper-and-magnet secured front pocket and side pockets sized to hold bottles and similarly sized objects. It comes with a breathable mesh panel in the back, so you can reduce sweating while walking around with this thing on your back all day, as well as padded straps for comfortably carrying it on your shoulders. Alternatively, you can carry it in hand using a nylon webbing handle or tie it down using the nylon webbing lash points in the exterior.

No word on how well this will hold up to water, so we’re not sure if it can handle the regular drizzle many frequently encounter in the city. Given that it’s made from recycled Cordura, though, we imagine there’s some water resistance there, along with the fact that they actually use Stormguard zippers throughout.

The Boundary Supply Rennen Recycled Daypack is available in three colorways, priced at $100.
