No, you don’t have to forsake civilization and move to a mountainous region with no electricity in order to pull off Betabrand’s Off-The-Grid Pants. It’s quite the stylish number, after all. Instead, it’s the perfect pair of pants for any dude who occasionally gets the urge to just take off and go off-the-grid without much forethought, as it’s designed to work as well in the outdoors as it does in the city.

Sporting a slim fit from hip to thigh, it delivers a stylish silhouette that should look flattering on guys who actually care about their appearance. Since it’s designed to accommodate roughing it up in a jiffy, though, it comes with a straight leg opening, so you can easily wear it with hiking boots, motorcycle boots, and other footwear that go above the ankles.

The Betabrand Off-The-Grid Pants are made from a stretch twill blend that gives it enough elasticity to actually accommodate rock climbing. Seriously. It’s not gusseted, though, so maybe keep it for light rock climbs and slip into a dedicated pair of climbing pants for more serious ascents. Since using it in the outdoors means subjecting it to some serious brushes with rocks and other rough objects, the trousers come with reinforced patches from the middle of the thigh down to the middle of the lower leg to give that section additional protection. Features include a classic five-pocket design, metal rivets and burrs, an additional zippered pocket in the back, and a hammer loop for carrying a tool along your hips.
