There’s no shortage of cold weather jackets out there. If you’re looking for one made with sustainability in mind, though, the Askov Finlayson Winter Parka should make for a very attractive option.
The outfit’s first outerwear garment, the jacket boasts a “climate-positive” construction that heavily focuses on sustainability. Not only does it use materials that promote eco-friendly ideals, the outfit’s whole manufacturing process is committed to offset carbon emission, making this the kind of garment the more ecologically-conscious can get behind on. Not to mention, the darn thing does look pretty good.
The Askov Finlayson Winter Parka has a shell cut in 100 percent recycled polyester that’s water-resistant, allowing it to shrug off rain and snow with equal aplomb, as well as 3M Thinsulate for insulation, a recycled, synthetic, and featherless alternative to traditional down. It’s lined with 100 percent Bluesign-certified micro-ripstop taffeta lining, which should make this extremely comfortable to wear, regardless of the layers you put together, while the scuba-fit hood with lined edge and the insulated collar should deliver the necessary protection from the elements. Suffice to say, this will protect you from the cold winter weather in a capable manner.
To ensure it locks in your body heat capably while keeping cold air out, the garment has two layers of snapping lapel enclosures on top of the water-resistant zipper closure, along with recessed elastic cuffs that close out the garment without getting in the way of your work.
The Askov Finlayson Winter Parka has five exterior pockets, namely two with snap closures, two hand pockets, and one with a zippered closure, along with two internal stow pockets that can be used even with gloved hands. There’s even a special Afield Pocket that’s designed to block all cell and Wi-Fi signals, which you can use for any electronics you want to keep off the grid. It comes in three colors and four sizes.
The Askov Finlayson Winter Parka is available now, priced at $495.
