2016 Apple 12-Inch MacBook Apple's 2016 update for the 12-inch MacBook still has just one USB port, but throws in more powerful hardware to step up your productivity pursuits.

Despite the frustrating fact that it has only one USB port, there are plenty of things to love about the “thinnest and lightest” MacBook ever. By virtue of that, we guess there’s even more to love about this year’s updated version of the Apple 12-Inch MacBook, which still retains the frustrating lone USB port (so don’t throw the Type-C USB hub away) while receiving a much-needed performance boost.

Chief among the upgrades is the sixth-generation of Intel’s dual-core Core M processors, which boast up to 20 percent faster processing than the previous iteration. Paired with a snappier Intel HD 515 GPU, the new ultra-portable computer claims 25 percent faster all-around processing than last year’s model. Granted, those numbers don’t exactly raise the model’s profile to a movie editing juggernaut, but it should handle most common productivity tasks a whole lot better.

The Apple 12-Inch MacBook comes with three options in processors (m3, m5, and m7), each coming with a 2,304 x 1,440 Retina display, 8GB of DDR3 RAM, up to 512GB of SSD storage, and a battery rated at 10 hours of moderate use. Since it comes with that lone USB-C slot, the laptop can be powered directly from a power bank, making whatever battery pack you’re carrying in your pocket more useful than ever. Joining last year’s silver, gold, and space gray colors is a new rose gold option for those who prefer their gadgets in a shade of pink (we know, that’s probably not you).
