Whether you’re hiking, climbing, or just camping for the night, a sufficiently-sized backpack is the first thing you need to have before making the trip. And if you’re looking for one that sits right between that intersection of size, function, and good looks, Topo Designs’ new Mountain Daypack should make for a perfect mountaineering gear bag.
A 26-liter backpack, the bag combines a boxy profile with a playful design and colorful panels, making for a refreshing break from your mountaineering packs’ usually earthy tones. Seriously, it has a styling that looks more suited for the city than the wild and untamed outdoors.
The Topo Designs Mountain Daypack comes with an oversized U-shaped zippered opening, giving you full access to the main compartment so you can easily pack any type of gear. While designed for the mountain, it comes with a laptop compartment inside, making it perfectly functional for use around the city. It measures 12 x 19 x 7 inches (w x h x d), with two large side pockets that can expand to fit 32-oz Nalgene bottles and ultra-tough daisy chain webbing for securing extra bags, compression sacks, and mountaineering gear.
Features include heavy duty plastic hardware, YKK zippers, compression straps on the sides and bottom, and attachment loops for a travel bag. It comes in three colorways: silver with cream and black panels, red with green and black panels, and all-black if you prefer your bags with a low-key sense of style.
Available now, the Topo Designs Mountain Daypack is priced at $189.
