It’s no secret that French automaker Renault has been working on rebooting their long-defunct Alpine sports car brand. And while the outfit has shown off numerous concepts the past couple of years, it seems they’re finally ready to debut the much-awaited ride in the form of the Renault Alpine Vision. Well, almost.

According to the outfit, the new car they’ve introduced is about 80 percent final, with the full-blown production version slated to be unveiled later in the year. Truth be told, we wouldn’t mind if this was the final form, as the vehicle definitely brings it on the styling end, duly matching the company’s vision for Alpine as an upscale halo marque.

Designed to marry “elegance, agility, and authenticity,” the Renault Alpine Vision combines a smooth, sculpted body with a low profile that makes it look ready to get down and start burning rubber in a jiffy. It has a curb weight of just 2,245 pounds, ensuring it allows for precise handling, all while going from 0 to 60 in just 4.5 seconds for some satisfying acceleration. Inside, the two-seater coupe looks plush yet sporty, with quilted leather upholstery and aluminum accents combining with a three-spoke steering wheel and bucket-style seats. The power is supplied by an unspecified four-cylinder turbocharged engine custom-built by Renault Sport, although little else has been detailed due to the likelihood of changes they might start making down the line.
