The Mazda MX-5 is a heck of a car for the price, helping to further cement the Miata’s status as the most popular roadster in the world. If you wanted to turn one into a track-ready racer, though, you either had to do the work yourself or bring it to a race shop for professional modifications. Not anymore, with the Mazda MX-5 Cup, a turnkey, hand-built version that’s, quite possibly, the most accessible race car in the world.

How accessible? The whole thing sells for just $53,000 and that’s with all modifications thrown in. The only thing you’ll need to add is a racing seat (you can specify one as an option upon ordering), which Mazda decided not to include in the base price because of the wide variation in driver preferences. Other than that, it’s ready-to-race and fully-eligible in the upcoming 2016 Global MX-5 Cup Series, as well as in track-day clubs, the Sports Car Club of America, and the National Auto Sport Association.

Built by North Carolina-based Long Road Racing, each Mazda MX-5 Cup starts out with a stock MX-5 Miata that’s brought to their facility, torn down, and equipped with a variety of modifications. These include an eight-point roll cage for improved safety and rigidity, a new racing suspension (coil-over shocks with 5-way dampening adjustment and adjustable anti-roll bars), a race-spec radiator, a stainless steel header, upgraded brakes, and additional safety features. It uses a slightly-upgraded version of the 2.0-liter DOHC I4 engine, now pumping out 200 horsepower while mated to a six-speed manual gearbox.
