Pioneer Swag Tent A modern version of the bedrolls Australia's nomadic swagmen used back in the day, these tents are designed for quick set up out in the field.

At 20 pounds, the Pioneer Swag Tent isn’t the kind of tent you want to haul when going on long treks. For music festivals, car camping, and similar activities, however, it might just offer one of the most convenient temporary shelter options.

Based on traditional Australian swags (those canvas bedrolls nomadic workers carried back in the day), it’s a single-person tent that conveniently rolls up into an included canvas carry bag. That amounts to roughly the size of a small gym bag, making it easy enough to hoist on your shoulder for finding a different spot on the festival grounds or throw into the backseat of a car.

Like the original swags, the Pioneer Swag Tent comes with an integrated mattress, so you can catch your slumber in it like any sleeping bag. Unlike them, it sets up with poles, pegs, and guy ropes, giving it a tent-like shape to afford the occupant some headroom, apart from helping water run down the sides in the event of rain. It works much like a bivy tent, albeit with a better-defined form and its own sleeping mattress in tow. Construction is heavy-duty 400GSM rip-stop canvas that’s fully waterproof, so you can use it even in wet weather.

Features include a 2-inch foam mattress, a spacious front opening, a head flap and fly mesh layer for ventilation, and an included PVC shoe mat. Floor size is 7 x 3 feet, with a 31-inch headroom for a decent amount of vertical clearance.
