If you want to shoot pictures with a life-like, cinematic quality, then you need a camera that can capture as much resolution as a digital sensor would allow. When it comes to that kind of equipment, we doubt anything comes close to the Phase One XF 100MP.

Able to capture images at a whopping 100 megapixels of resolution, it lets you inject all your photography projects with an unprecedented amount of detail. Heck, you can blow the pictures up to exponentially larger-than-life sizes and they will still look all manners of amazing, bearing what Phase One describes as “uncompromised image quality from edge to edge.”

Naturally, this is no ordinary camera. As such, the Phase One XF 100MP uses a medium format CMOS sensor that measures 53.7 x 40.4 mm – that’s 2.5 times the size of the ones you’ll find in typical DSLRs. Aside from the insane resolution, the large sensor enables 16-bit color output, 15 stops of dynamic range, and a wide ISO range of 50 to 12800, all while allowing exposure times of up to 60 minutes. Of course, plenty of pixels mean a high sensitivity to movement, so it bakes in an “Electronic First Curtain Shutter” system that significantly reduces camera vibration, along with Phase One’s proven vibration tracking and detection technologies.

Features include high-precision Leaf Shutter lenses, a pair of high-accuracy modular viewfinders, and an ergonomic design that allows one-handed access to all the controls. To help accommodate the massive amount of detail and the 16-bit color, the camera shoots in an exclusive lossless file format, which provides up to 33 percent compression while retaining the impeccable image quality.

Available now, the Phase One XF 100MP is priced at $49,000.
