Last year, Paul Smith teamed up with Caran d’Ache to make a commemorative pen for their centennial anniversary. That partnership proved to be so fruitful that the two outfits ended up collaborating again a mere year later. And that comes in the form of the Paul Smith x Caran d’Ache 849 Pen Second Edition.

Based on the colorful Artist Stripe that appears throughout Paul Smith’s fall/winter collection for this year, the collection sees the long-running pen decked in the eight-colored stripe’s various hues. Whether you’re a fan of Paul Smith or just a general admirer of beautiful writing instruments, this thing should make a nice addition to anyone’s pen collection.

The Paul Smith x Caran d’Ache 849 Pen Second Edition retains the 849’s hexagonal body to deliver a strong grip, along with a flexible clip for securing the pen on your pocket. Cut in aluminum, this pen should hold up to everyday abuse, too, so you can throw it around the room with little regard for consequences. The retractable pen comes with a blue medium Goliath ink cartridge, which should last up to 600 A4 pages, as well as a slim padded pen case that has Smith’s Artist Stripe prominently emblazoned on the exterior.
