GoFoil SUP Hydrofoil Bringing the wonders of hydrofoiling to stand up paddle boarding, this attachment gets your SUP board hovering during downwinds.

People have been outfitting their surfboards with hydrofoils for many years now, allowing it to seemingly hover on top of the water. Since stand-up paddle boarding has seen serious uptake almost everywhere, we knew it wouldn’t be long before someone figured out how to rig SUP boards with the same thing. That will be the GoFoil.

A hydrofoil that attaches to the bottom of your SUP board, it allows the board to hover once you hit a certain speed in the water, adding extra challenge to the ride while making it look even cooler. Simply put, it brings a new dimension to the increasingly popular sport, giving long-time paddle boarders a way to add something fresh the next time they hit the water.

Once installed on the board, the GoFoil will lift the board from the water when you hit speeds between 4 to 8 mph (which will usually happen when you catch a wave), allowing you to glide more smoothly since the board is no longer a factor in friction and drag. Do note, the speed needed to activate the lift will depend on the rider’s weight, so the heavier you are, the faster the board has to get. Either way, that makes this a seriously fun addition to anyone who enjoys downwind paddle boarding, as it should let you go faster than you’ve ever done on the water.

Construction is carbon for the foil, which adds around 5 pounds of weight on the board. It’s installed onto the SUP board using a tuttle box, so anyone who’s worked on wind surfing and kite boarding gear should be able to easily set it up.

Available now, the GoFoil is priced at $1,749.
