Some tools, you see once and you know what they’re for. That’s not the case with the Fiskars Machete Axe. All we know is, the darn thing looks positively badass, bringing an aesthetic that makes it more suited as a protagonist’s weapon out of a fantasy adventure saga than a handyman blade for clearing unruly growths all across the backyard.

A hybrid blade, it takes on the traditional machete form, but integrates an axe-like head at the top end of the blade. That way, you can use it to slash your way through a thick bundle of bushes, all while doubling as a handy tool for chopping and splitting thicker branches and logs.

The Fiskars Machete Axe measures 29 inches long, with a long 18-inch full tang blade, giving you plenty of sharp edge for destroying everything in sight. A gentle curved shape gives the blade serious pull-cutting talents, while a sharpened tip enables push-cutting action in hard-to-reach angles. Three distinct grip zones on the texture-patterned handle allow different types of grips (including one-handed positions), making it versatile enough to handle a whole range of cutting styles. Construction is high-carbon steel for the blade, with a contoured Softgrip material for the handle.

Features include a low-friction coating that lets it slide through objects during cutting, a handle flare that keeps it firmly in hand when swinging, a finger guard for added protection, and a long 11-inch handle to accommodate the largest hands. It comes with a nylon carrying sheath.

Available now, the Fiskars Machete Axe is priced at $39.
