Filson MITI Camp Stove A camp stove you can slip in a back pocket and hang on a carabiner? Yes, it exists. Just pair it with a quartered log at camp and you're set.

Truth be told, the Filson MITI Camp Stove is far from the most impressive-looking stove for cooking your meals in the wild. I mean, it’s nothing more than a steel plate held on a log using four steel sticks. That’s it. When it comes to portability, though, it’s seriously difficult to find anything close.

Consisting of a single disc and four pegs, the system should easily find a place in any most any camping pack. Heck, you can even keep this directly on your body – just sneak the pegs in your back pocket and clip the disc to a carabiner on your belt loop to get things all set. Done.

If a disc and four pegs sound a little inadequate to actually serve as a proper camp stove, well that’s true. That’s why the Filson MITI Camp Stove is designed to be used with a moderately thick log. To set up, you need to find a log from 7.5 to 9 inches in diameter and 12 to 14 inches in height, which you’ll need to chop into four equal parts (from the top, like slicing a pie). From there, you simply attach the pegs onto the disc and slip the disc on top of the log (the pegs keep both the logs from moving and the disc in place).  The openings between the quartered log allows you to insert your choice of fuel, with your stove or pan sitting right on top of the disc, ready to cook your dinner as soon as you get the fire going.
