BASE Object 005 Desktop Camera Stand Do you need a desktop camera stand? Probably not. When you see this one, however, you probably will.

Let’s be honest: you don’t need a dedicated stand on your desk to hold a DSLR. Setting it down on top of a notebook will be just fine if you simply want to keep it away from the desk surface every time you spill coffee. Since we’re being honest, though, I have to say, having your camera perched on the BASE Object 005 does look a heck of a lot better.

Billed as a “desktop camera stand,” its sole purpose is to hold your DSLR at an elevated angle. Whether you’re fixing up lighting in the studio, editing footage on your home office desk, or just keeping it safe in the office while you ride out the day for a nighttime shoot, this thing will hold your camera with a whole load of style.

Sized to fit any DSLR or micro-4/3 shooter, the BASE Object 005 should play nice regardless of your photography equipment of choice, so it should serve you well through future upgrades, provided high-end consumer cameras don’t see a sudden drop in size. It’s designed to hold the camera at a tilted angle (with the lens facing slightly down), so you can get easy access to the rear LCD if you want to check pictures, do some on-camera editing, or finally get rid of that video you promised the girlfriend you’re deleting. Construction is powder-coated aluminum, with soft plastic pads protecting any surface of the camera that touches the stand from incurring nicks and scratches.
