KLAD recognized the significant engineering and cost benefits that Overlay and Clad materials provide, such as:
- 30%+ Cost savings compared to solid, high alloy CRAs
- Mechanical Design benefits for applications; no need to qualify a new design, because CRA cladding replaces the corrosion allowance in carbon steel components, allowing “like-for-like” replacement covered by the original specifications.
- Performance and Safety benefits equal to or better than CRAs.

KLAD pioneered the use of these materials and implemented the development of engineering specifications and production techniques for manufacture of pipe components, so that, these components could be seamlessly applied for various “solutions” to significant piping corrosion problems in Refining, Sub Sea & Onshore Oil and Gas Production systems, Nuclear Power, and other plant applications. Today these “solutions” using Overlay/Clad material have become universal and represent an optimum solution, not available a few years ago.
