An axe is awesome enough on its own. Throw in a hammer and you raise the destruction meter to gratifying levels. Reinforce it with a pry bar and you just might send the meter into overload. That’s exactly what will happen if you put this 5.11 Tactical VTAC Operator Axe in my hands.

Designed with Kyle Lamb of Viking Tactics, the axe is based on a multi-function chopper that the former Delta Force operator found during a past mission, which incorporated hammer and pry bar ends into the traditional bladed tool. They took that basic design and fashioned it into this badass hand tool, which incorporates even more elements for greater utility.

Big enough for wrecking stuff and small enough for throwing, the 5.11 Tactical VTAC Operator Axe sports a bearded blade, giving it a wide cutting surface while keeping the weight low. Opposite the blade is a hammer head that should be useful for smashing things and breaking windows, with pry claws on both ends to make things even more fun. One side of the axe handle comes printed with ruler markings, so you can use it to measure the exact spot where you’re going to cut, slice, or smash any object that comes across your path.
